The Koalas are here!  Adventure Awaits You and Your Family at the Kansas City Zoo!

Koalas Coedie (meaning "Boy") and Burra (meaning "Big Fellow") have finally arrived.  Guests will be able to learn more about these marsupials at Koala Zookeeper chats daily at 1pm.  And, join the party as the Zoo celebrates their third birthday this July.  Plus the Zoo is offering an overnight experience called "Slumber Down Under" on June 24th and on July 8th.  Participants will camp out with the koalas from 6pm until  8:30am the following morning.  You can register in advance at kansascityzoo.org.  

The Koalas aren't the only ones celebrating a birthday.  Masika, the Zoo's gorilla youngster, will be celebrating her FIRST birthday in May!  Join the Zoo, and the birthday girl, for her ape-mazing birthday festivities at the gorilla exhibit on May 25th, May 28th and May 29th.  She and the other gorillas will receive birthday enrichment when they go on exhibit in the morning and again during the Zookeeper chat at noon.

Back by popular demand is the Penguin March.  Stop by 11am on Saturday, May 28th and Sunday, May 29th, the penguins will be strutting their stuff for all the Zoo guests to see. 

In June, the spotlight will be on the graceful Giraffe.  On June 25th and 26th, stop by the lobby and pick up your giraffe and other ungulate trading cards and collect them all year long at Species Spotlight.  There will be games and crafts to help kids learn all about these fascinating animals.  All the activities are included with Zoo admission.

Celebrate Dad with a relaxing day at the Zoo.  Papa bears will receive complimentary admission on June 19th.  The treats don't stop there, Dads will also receive a free hot dog in the Tropics Tent! 

In July, take a walk on the wild side by joining the Zoo on July 16th for a Wildly Fun Day.  Enjoy special keeper chats, face painting and live music.  See what hippos, rhinos, chimps, sea lions, tigers and otters think of the Zoo's icy treats at scheduled times throughout the day.  Wildly Fun activities will be from 10am until 3pm that day.  

In August, finish out summer break with exciting and fun activities at the Zoo's Back to School Day on August 7th from 11am to 4pm.  And cool down with all the Zoo's animals on August 21st when you join in for SnowZoo.  Berlin will enjoy an icy paradise when the Zoo dumps three tons of ice into the Polar Bear Passage.  The river otters will also be enjoying icy treats.  Check out all the cool action from 11am to 4pm.
